Recognizing Achievements!
Every year Goodwill recognizes extraordinary graduates,
volunteers, employees and community and business partners
at our Annual Awards Luncheon. Below are the inspiring
stories from the 2006 winners.

Employee of the
Year
Willie Schwenger
“I love the mission of Goodwill and I love knowing
that my job helps to improve the lives of others!”
Wilhelmina, better known as Willie, was told at a
young age that she was learning disabled. But with
the encouragement of her mother, she graduated high
school.
After graduating, Willie worked for many in years
in manufacturing and retail and in 2000 she worked
full time in shipping/receiving and customer service
for a local business. She decided to take on a part-time
job, and started as a part-time cashier at Goodwill.
Willie eventually left the full-time job and accepted
a full-time Assistant Manager position with Goodwill.
“This was a great opportunity for me to work
for an organization that I had come to love and believe
in.”
Willie is known for her kindness towards her customers
and associates. Her colleagues commend her on her
work ethic. Always professional and willing to train
and or assist co-workers, Willie also provides transportation
for her co-workers who are unable to drive.
“It is an honor for me to have the opportunity
to assist my co-workers and make sure they are trained
and prepared to do their job. Goodwill provides me
with great training, so I’m able to share that
with my colleagues.”
Currently Willie is the Assistant Manager of Goodwill’s
Claymont store, but she does travel to other locations
if they are in need of help. Willie is also attending
classes towards her Business Management Associates
Degree.
