Goodwill to Open New Retail Store in Milford

Wilmington, DE, July 6, 2009—Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County has just signed a lease to open a new retail store and donation center in Milford, Delaware. The new store, located in the Milford Plaza (694 N. Dupont Highway—next to Sherwin-Williams) is expected to open in September. During renovations, Goodwill has located an attended donation center in the parking lot to accept donations. A Goodwill team member will be on hand to accept donations Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.

According to Ted Van Name, president and CEO of Goodwill, the new retail store will create jobs for about 15 full-time and part-time workers and provide over $300,000 per year in wages and benefits to employees. In addition, it will provide the exceptional values Goodwill is known for in clothing for the entire family, household goods, books and toys.

“This store will be bright and spacious with the customer in mind,” says Van Name. “We wanted a fresh layout, lighting, colors and visual elements to provide a new perspective for thrifty Goodwill shoppers. Our goal is that everyone who walks through the doors will have an overwhelmingly positive experience.”

Emory Hill, Inc. has been selected as the general contractor for the project.

For 87 years, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County’s mission has been to improve the quality of life for individuals with barriers to employment through vocational services and work opportunities and has been supported by proceeds from retail sales and donations. Last year alone, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County provided over 6,900 services to individuals throughout the region.
