Ladies, now that the weather has finally begun to warm up and we can shed a few layers of clothing, it’s the perfect time to start the annual Spring Closet Clean-out. It’s time to get rid of those pieces that no longer fit or that you didn’t wear last winter, and it’s a great time to donate them all to Goodwill. When you donate your stuff to Goodwill you are helping to create jobs for many others in the community, and this is something that I look forward to doing several times during the year.
I started my closet clean a few weeks ago and then on Saturday morning I dropped off a few bags of clothing and household items at the Goodwill store in Middletown. Armed with a list of my “must haves” for Spring, I headed inside for the first “5 under $25.” thrifting haul. The monthly goal is to put together one or two fantastic outfits all for under $25.00, and I hit the jackpot with these five pieces.
I found these two skirts, a multi-color Annelee + Hope and the other a brilliant blue and green striped both of which are perfect to wear to work, church or even for a date night with hubby. I started looking for a top for each, but then came across this new, still with tags from Kohl’s (retail $30) sleeveless tank, in a color and style that goes equally well with both skirts.
These other two pieces were perfect for an upcoming summer vacation. The asymmetrical striped top from Talbots can be worn with jeans or over leggings or it can even be worn with these green Sag Harbor walking shorts.
I am thinking of pairing the top and shorts because it would make a perfect outfit for a long walk along the beach in the evening. Oh and speaking of summer vacations, Goodwill Middletown now has two large displays of new, non-prescription glasses and designer inspired sunglasses, I grabbed a pair of Hollywood Eyes for only $3.99. In checking my cart, I realized that I still had $1.00 left so I purchased a black and green animal print scarf bringing my total to $24.99! #winning
Have you started your Spring Closet Clean-out yet? If not, hurry so that you can get a jump on the incoming spring and summer donations. I’m sure you’ll also be able to find “5 for under $25”, and when you do, come back and let me know what you found.
Donate stuff and I’ll see ya next month!
