Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County is pleased to announce the grand re-opening of our newly remodeled Newark store and donation center located in the Newark Shopping Center. On Thursday, January 17, 2019 grand re-opening celebrations will begin with a 9:00 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony at the store.

Newark Mayor Polly Sierer and elected officials from the City of Newark, New Castle County and the State of Delaware will attend the ribbon cutting and offer remarks to commemorate the occasion.

“We’re beyond excited to officially re-open our Newark store and welcome shoppers back with a completely renovated sales floor and donation center. While the store was closed, we accepted more than 6,000 donations which our team members processed onsite, and we’ve held here for the re-opening,” commented Colleen Morrone, President and CEO, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County. “Our goal was to create an environment that both our shoppers and our donors would appreciate, and we’re confident that has been accomplished here.”

Throughout the day on Thursday, January 17 (10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.), shoppers will enjoy $10 coupon giveaways every hour and fresh inventory arriving to the sales floor. A family fun night with games and music is planned for 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

About the Goodwill Newark Store

The Newark Goodwill store and donation center has operated in the Newark Shopping Center since October 2004. In November 2018 the store closed for remodeling while the donation center remained open to accept and process donations. During the 8-week remodeling project contractors expanded the sales floor to 8,960 square feet and created a 4,800 square foot donation center and processing area, with a separate entry, immediately adjacent to the store. Other features of the remodel include: new LED lighting, bathrooms, fixtures and check-out area, and updated flooring and fitting rooms. Annually this store location accepts roughly 35,000 donations from the community and conducts close to 65,000 sales transactions, all of which support Goodwill’s mission.
