Rajant Corporation Donates 200+ 3D Masks to Goodwill
Masks Distributed to Essential Workers in Goodwill Operations
Wilmington, Delaware, August 11, 2020 – Goodwill Industries of Delaware and Delaware County, Inc is the grateful recipient of more than 200 protective 3D face masks created by Rajant Corporation, a provider of private wireless industrial networks.
In an effort to help slow community spread of COVID-19, employees at Malvern, PA based Rajant Corporation used existing 3D printers and followed the online protocols for 3D Printing Of Personal Protective Equipment And Repurposing Of Common Household Air Filters to produce face masks using Polylactic Acid (PLA) as the printing material. Once the PLA masks were printed, employees and their family members then volunteered their time to assemble the final product, which provides the same degree of protection as regular surgical masks.
“We based our design on the well-known, Montana mask design, which Rajant optimized for weight, flexibility, speed of printing, and comfort,” said Alice DiSanto, Associate Vice President of Marketing for Rajant. The company has since transitioned their 3D personal protective equipment initiative (PPE) to the creation of face shields for healthcare and other front-line workers.
The masks were donated at Goodwill’s store in Concordville, PA and were then made available to Goodwill team members in e-Commerce, retail, and operations at no cost.
We and our team members appreciate the generous donation from Rajant. Masks had been challenging to acquire in bulk, and their donation came just in time to help meet the needs of our team members,” shared Colleen Morrone, President & CEO of Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County. “This is another fine example of how businesses and non-profits pull together to serve the greater good – in this case by helping to protect people our communities.”
