Brendan Popp
Recipient of the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Achievement Award
For Brendan Popp, recipient of the Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Achievement Award, Goodwill encouraged growth, confidence, and independence through meaningful career support and strong community partnership. Through Goodwill’s workforce development services and a supportive employment opportunity with RIV Athletics, Brendan found a role that matched his strengths and allowed him to continue building skills on the job. His story reflects the power of encouragement, access, and opportunity.
Yaire Ordonez
Recipient of the Graduate of the Year Award
For Yaire Ordonez, recipient of the Graduate of the Year Award, Goodwill supported a journey of growth, learning, and preparation for the workforce through Delaware’s Project SEARCH Program. With hands-on experience, mentorship, and encouragement, Yaire developed skills that will support long-term success and greater independence. Her story reflects the importance of believing in potential and investing in people.
Michael Deremer
Recipient of the Michael Deremer Personal Achievement Award
For Michael Deremer, recipient of the Michael Deremer Personal Achievement Award, Goodwill provided more than a job. It provided a place to belong, contribute, and thrive. During his remarkable 53 years of service at Goodwill, Michael became a beloved ambassador of the mission and a powerful example of perseverance, dedication, and pride in work. His legacy continues to inspire all who believe in the dignity and purpose that employment can provide.
Tatianna Benson Parker
Recipient of the Graduate of the Year Award
For Tatianna Benson Parker, recipient of the Graduate of the Year Award, Goodwill provided guidance, career-readiness support, and encouragement as she worked toward her employment goals. Through Project SEARCH and Goodwill’s partnership network, Tatianna gained valuable experience, built confidence, and took meaningful steps toward a more independent future. Her success is a reminder that opportunity can change the direction of a life.
Nathan Waydelis
Recipient of the Graduate of the Year Award
For Nathan Waydelis, recipient of the Graduate of the Year Award, Goodwill helped open the door to competitive employment through Delaware’s Project SEARCH Program. With determination, perfect attendance, and a strong work ethic, Nathan successfully transitioned from intern to full-time employment at the Delaware Veterans Home. His journey shows what is possible when individuals are given the tools, training, and support to succeed.
Barbara White
Recipient of the Arline Docherty Team Member of the Year Award
For Barbara White, recipient of the Arline Docherty Team Member of the Year Award, Goodwill created the opportunity to turn compassion, experience, and dedication into meaningful impact. As a Career Navigator supporting older adults through Goodwill’s workforce programs, Barbara helps participants build digital skills, gain confidence, and move toward employment. Her work shows how Goodwill team members help others take their next step forward every day.
University of Delaware Department of Fashion & Apparel Studies and ReSpool
Recipient of the Community Partner of the Year Award
For the University of Delaware Department of Fashion & Apparel Studies and ReSpool, recipients of the Community Partner of the Year Award, Goodwill found a mission-aligned partner committed to reuse, circularity, and community impact. Through research, textile audits, and student engagement, this partnership has helped advance Goodwill’s sustainability efforts while preparing the next generation to think differently about fashion, materials, and responsible reuse. Their work demonstrates how collaboration can create lasting impact for people, planet, and community.

For many Goodwill is the first yes after so many others said no. We are at first a friend, and then we become a family, together working toward the common goal of securing a path to self-sufficiency through the Power of Work!



Our Awards

Graduate of the Year Award
Awarded to a client who is an excellent example of how Goodwill training programs can lead to successful employment. This person has excelled in learning the skills necessary for the competitive employment. The Goodwill Graduate of the Year must have successfully completed one or more training programs, have overcome multiple one or more barriers to employment and been in competitive employment for more than six months.

Arline Docherty Team Member of the Year Award
Recognizes an individual who exceeds the minimum requirements of a Goodwill team member by assisting Goodwill in achieving it’s mission. This person has gone beyond the “call of duty” in showing “goodwill” to individuals who are disabled and disadvantaged to finding employment.

Senator William V. Roth, Jr, Achievement Award
The award named in honor of Senator William V. Roth, Jr., who was a pioneer in advancing the rights of people with barriers, advocating the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990, is given to an employee who has demonstrated that integrated employment promotes self-esteem and good job performance. This employee has learned the skills necessary for success in the workplace, has consistently demonstrated appropriate work behaviors, has become dependable through good attendance and work production, and over time, has developed a positive work ethic and increased self esteem.

Community Partner of the Year Award
Awarded annually to a business or organization that has shown commitment and support to Goodwill’s mission.

Business Partner of the Year Award
Awarded to a company that not only contracts Goodwill Services, but has also shown commitment and support to Goodwill’s mission.
